It’s probably the
most purely American musical style we have. It has developed for over a hundred years, and our concert will offer tastes of
all those stages of development. We will explore some of the early kinds of music that led into the blues and we will also
listen to music that the blues inspired in some surprising places. And of course you can't have blues without a singer, and
we are going to have a great one: Sharrie Williams, one of the finest blues singers Michigan has ever produced is going to
help us sort it all out.
